So sadly no one at Lehigh was jumping forward to be a DM so the great person I am I headed the call for a DM.... and called a friend of mine.
He has agreed to run a 4.0 game this semester.
The purpose of this thread is to give an idea of how many people are interested/what they would like to play.
As of right now we are shooting for Thursdays around 5ish, as such the meeting to formalize who is in the group is this Thursday at 5.
The DM's name is Brad Evans, and only use PHB and DMG in character creation.
New people are welcome, as 4th will be a learning experience for all.
We will be starting at first level so anyone who feels comfortable making their own character before hand should.
So summary, since this was disorderly: -Thursday September 11 2008 is the preliminary meeting -Thursdays are the tentative meeting time for future meeting -the above is subject to change if necessary -1st level -4th edition -Only PHB and DMG -Please state here if you plan to come/what you wish to play
Hope this was clear, I'll be checking this forum multiple times a day so feel free to ask for more info.
-Mike

So I am just submitting that I obviously am interested in the game since I've gone to these lengths to acquire a DM.
I'm hoping to play a rogue, and Thursdays at 5 work for me.
This is a rough idea of what you should respond with.

Ok third post in a row, I'm sorry.
I forgot to mention what stat system we're using. We'll be using Method 2: Customizing stats as defined by pages 17-18 in the PHB. Also if you don't have the source material don't worry about it, we can work around that without a problem.
If the stats give anyone a problem or they're unsure, feel free to wait for Thursday, it won't take too long.

Hey all,
As Mike told you guys, my name is Brad and I have volunteered to be your DM. Firstly I want to say I'm glad that I can help out, and I look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday.
But more importantly, if in addition to what Mike already asked you to put in your response, if you could tell me a little bit about what you expect from me as your DM.
Things like what kind of game you like, do you want more combat, or more role playing? Do you really care if theirs a plot, or does that just slow down the game for you?
This will all help me a lot when it comes to getting a campaign set up for you to play.
Also, since I'm pretty sure I've never met any of you except for Washer, if you want to tell me a little bit about how long you've been playing and what kind of stuff you've done in the past I would greatly appreciate it .
Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday, -Brad Evans

I'm also on facebook if you'd like to look me up there

Hi,
I joined the gaming club last semester and am very new to DnD.. played a few days last semester in a game run by Ari... Am interested in playing this sem again. Thursdays at 5 pm works for me but I can stay only for an hour this thursday as I have prior commitments from 6 pm onwards.
Also I have the PHB for the older version. Hope that still works for 4.0

4th is almost entirely different from 3.5 but we can get you a pdf copy.
Furthermore gaming club should be getting a set of 4th edition core books. I'll talk to Pete about whether I should go ahead and order them for us.

I dont' mean to hijack your thread, but it seems like the best place to post. if anyone is interested in an online 4th edition game i like the looks of rptool's maptool rptools.net/doku.php?id=maptool:intro as far as a downloadable client, its a little more powerful, or screenmonkey www.nbos.com/products/screenmonkey/screenmonkey.htm as far as something you don't need to download and will therefore work on any platform if you want to putz around on screenmonkey 96.236.136.224:10015/screenmonkey.cgi might send you to a "game",(between internet cutouts and windows update restarting my computer i can't make any promises) password is 1dunnj. if intersted you can get to my email by clicking "propagandist" over to the left. ~Jay/bagel

Thanks for agreeing to be the DM. Personally, I am more interested in plots and character development than combat.
I am undecided however in regards to 4th edition. It seems to have streamlined a lot of the clutter from edition 3.5, but I just cannot . imagine playing a wizard with the drastically reduced list of spells. I would prefer to play a rogue, however, as someone already has dibs on that character class I think I will play as a ranger, or, under special campaign circumstances, a paladin.

I'd like to join, but I haven't got the chance to mess with 4.0 yet.
as for what I like to play... no clue.

I haven't managed to play 4.0 yet either, but that's part of the purpose of this. and on Thursday we can help with character creation and a general run down of 4th edition.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Yeah, if anyone is at all worried about not knowing the rules or how to play 4.0, don't. As your DM I hadn't looked at 4.0 before Monday night, and I'm going to be spending the next week reading all the core books and crunching a campaign together. It's very much a learning experience for all of us.

I'm in, probably as a paladin or fighter, I haven't really gotten much chance to look at 4th, so I don't really know. I'm guessing we would be meeting at Ulrich where gaming club is held?

Can everyone post their email contact information? I really need this if I'm to set up the game. It's hopefully going to be on Thursdays at 5, like the first meeting was supposed to be, but if a lot have an issue with this it can be resolved. Anyway, hopefully I'll get some response to this, I don't feel like shouting DnD plans into the ears of everyone on gaming clubs mailing list.

Hey Mike, I may not be able to make today's meeting (I am going to the career fair). I will be playing an Elantrin Wizard. I already have the character stats set up. If you guys actually start playing today, just keep him hooded and silent. -Jonathan (that other guy). jmk212@lehigh.edy
